New Install - From ".db" Database File

Table of Contents   Previous Page  Next Page

This procedure applies if you have been given a single database file with a ".db" extension.

If you have a set of files including ".myd", ".myi", and ".frm", you have a database copy.  See New Install - From Database Copy instead.
If you have a single ".sql" file with a name like "bkup_Date_DBName.sql", you have a true database backup. See New Install - Restoring a Backup instead.

Databases with a ".db" file extension are from versions of MemberTies prior to 2006.

As of January 1, 2009, the capability to upgrade these databases was removed from the software to simplify the upgrade logic. We were simply trying to support too many versions of upgrades, and had to draw a line somewhere. This impending change was communicated to all users who had email addresses on file, several months beforehand.

It is still possible to upgrade an old database, but it must be done through our support team, and support charges may apply.  Please contact us for details.
